I hadn't heard this song in years and all of a sudden I hear it on the radio twice this week. I forgot all about it. It's from The Proclaimers, a Scottish band. When it first came out all those years ago (1993 ?), I always sang it out loud. Especially the da da da da...
My singing sounds pretty bad, but I didn't mind with this song. Anyway, when I heard it again this week, my heart just skipped a beat. I even still remembered all the lyrics, so there I went again. Luckily I was in my car so my neighbors weren't bothered by my great singing voice.
So when I got home, I started to look for it on the internet. I first came across the song on Youtube, but I don't know if any of you have any experience with this video site, but I think a lot of videos on youtube have a pretty awful sound. Anyway, I looked further and I found this great site where you can listen to all kinds of music and even put it on your journal. So beware... I might come up with a song once in a while.
I don't know if any of you guys in America know this song, but here it is: The Proclaimers with "I'm Gonna Be (500 miles)". I hope you'll like it as much as I do. And don't you just LOVE that little Scottish accent?
Turn up your volume, press the button with the triangle and enjoy:
When I wake up yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next to you
When I go out yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you
If I get drunk yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you
And if I haver yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you
But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked a 1000 miles
To fall down at your door
When I'm working yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you
And when the money comes in for the work I'll do
I'll pass almost every penny on to you
When I come home oh I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you
And if I grow old well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's growing old with you
But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked a 1000 miles
To fall down at your door
da da da

When I'm lonely yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man whose lonely without you
When I'm dreaming well I know I'm gonna dream
Dream about the time when I'm with you
When I go out well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you
And when I come home yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you
I'm gonna be the man who's coming home with you
But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked a 1000 miles
To fall down at your door
da da da
da da da
da da da dum da da dum da da dum da da

Just to be the man who walked a 1000 miles
To fall down at your door
